Open Doors – Opening paths, building trust

We’re in the middle of a very special journey: Open Door test program, a 10-session program (plus 2 full-days outing and a 4-day expedition) with a group of young people aged 18–30 with intellectual disabilities and autism (TEA). At Experentia, the Spanish partner of the project, we’ve completed so far 7 sessions, 1 full-day experience, and our 4-day mountain expedition — and what an adventure it’s been!

Over the weeks, we’ve explored:
🌀 Group bonding games and team challenges
🛹 Skating
🐴 Equine-assisted therapy
🏄 Paddle surf (full day at the sea!)
🥾 A hike to a hidden gorge
⛺ Expedition planning…

And then… the real expedition came:

4 days in the mountains, sleeping in tents, cooking together, climbing, kayaking, walking in the forest, sharing stories and fears, laughing, crying a little — and discovering how to listen to the body when it says “stop.”

Something magical happened: the participants became a group. We witnessed connection, courage, and so many moments of growth — together.

And we’re not done yet! In September we’ll come back for a follow-up session and 4 more to go.
Who knows? After such a powerful expedition, we might even go for one more night out in nature 🌙

Thanks to everyone walking this path with us 💚
